OBITUARY     Arvis Kraetsch

 

Arvis was born on June 16, 1925 and passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019. Arvis was a resident of Wisconsin at the time of passing. He was a mechanic in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Arvis was a member at St. Matthew’s for over 85 years and sang in the church choir for 70 years. Visitation & Services Arvis A. Kraetsch June 16, 1925 – April 7, 2019 Found peace and joined the love of his life Pearl on April 7, 2019 at the age of 93. Visitation on Monday, April 29, 2019 at St. Matthew’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1615 Wauwatosa Ave. from 2 PM until the time of Funeral Service at 4 PM. Entombment on Tuesday, April 30 at Wisconsin Memorial Park at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Matthew’s Ev.

We encourage you and yours to experience some of the many ongoing activities at Post #449. Such as Dartball, Cards (Sheepshead), Thursday nights is cook-in, burgers,brats and hot dogs, with all the fixins. Friday Night Fish Fry with live music from 5:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. We have sign-in Saturday’s with food and raffles and we have added live music from 8:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. featuring classic rock, oldies, country and jazz. See the schedule under the News and Events tab Music..We participate in the following activities which help us to reach out to our deserving Veterans and their families through our support/outreach programs. We visit the V.A. Hospital (Zablocki) to bring them Bingo and smiling faces. We invite the Veterans at the hospital out to our Post for Holiday Parties and Breakfast buffets.
We have an Honor Guard with a Firing Detail for Holidays, Parades and Funerals.Each year our Post sponsors 13 High School Juniors to Badger Boys State.
We award 6 scholarships to High School  Seniors continuing their education through our Post Scholarship Program.
We visit local schools instilling the values of Americanism.Our Auxiliary provides invaluable support activities to the Veterans. From hosting parties to fundraising.Our Sons of the American Legion Squadron provides additional support to our fundraising activities as well as honoring their Heritage to the family member who has honorably served in any branch of service.By visiting our Post and supporting our activities, you help us with all of our support programs.  When you participate, you are showing Veteran’s you care.
